RHEE TAEKWONDO BLACKBELTS

At some stage of kicking, punching, blocking, shouting, amid pain and endurance, hopefully sweating, Rhee Taekwondo practitioners aspire to wear the elusive Black Belt. Many have embarked on the journey to the black belt and more will do so in the future. It is a tough road but "nothing is impossible to a willing mind"
- (books of Han Dynasty).

The symbol of the black belt indicates the endless universe which opens to an unlimited horizon of knowledge. The black belt holder signifies a certain degree of maturity and proficiency in the art that has been reached, and is said to be impervious to darkness and fear. It does not however, represent the status of a tough guy, the best fighter in the class or one's ability to embark on bullying.

The symbol of the black belt is indicative of character rather than physical power. It has the ultimate values of a strong moral culture, spirit, perseverance, responsibility and the ability to face life with dignity.

Rhee Taekwondo black belts are trained to be martial art practitioners and not sportsmen/women. That is where the difference lies.

Our Senior Black Belts Promoted by Master Rhee

Regional Master Instructor John O'Brien 5th Dan Black Belt

When I first commenced training as a teenager I had no thought of becoming a 5th Dan Regional Master of Rhee Taekwondo.
I just wanted to practise and learn more of this fascinating art.

I was a great honour to be promoted to this level by the most qualified and genuine Master Instructor and Examiner in this country in World Master Rhee Chong Chul.

So now I just want to practise, learn and teach others more of this fascinating Art that has become a way of life.

Regional Master John O'Brien. Rhee Taekwondo. (S.A)

Regional Instructor Ivan Berry 4th Dan Black Belt

I felt it was a great honour to be called before the examiner 'World Master Chong Chul Rhee' at the last grading in front of all my students, to be presented with a 4th dan black belt.

Our New Black Belts Promoted by Master Rhee

Linda Deuter Wynnvale 1st Dan Black Belt

It took 4 years of dedication, determination and hard work to achieve my goal of becoming a black belt and it was an honour to be presented this by Master Rhee.

I would like to pay special thanks to all my instructors and black belts who helped me on my journey as I couldn't have achieved this without their guidance and support.

I now look forward to the journey ahead of further improvement in this art I have developed a passion for.

The accumulation of time and effort I put into Rhee taekwondo and finally getting the recognition and respect that comes with this black belt is a feeling that one can’t accurately describe.

It is one of the best feelings in the world.

I would also like to thank my family and friends for believing in me and my Instructors teaching me for all those years leading up to that point.

Rhee Tae Kwondo has given me an opportunity to become closer to my two daughters than any other sport could do. Ashleigh and I have trained side by side for the past 4 years, pushing and encouraging each other to become the best we can. With my younger daughter Alesha, recently promoted to blue belt, I look forward to working with her to fulfull her dream of becoming a black belt. I would like to express a special thanks to Master Rhee and all my past and present instructors for all their dedication and expertise. I would also like to thank all the other students of Rhee Tae Kwondo.

Ashleigh Hoskin Modbury Gym Junior Dan Black Belt

I first joined Rhee Tae Kwondo when I was 10 years old. It was my dream to become a black belt. It was also a dream to receive my black belt with my dad Darren. We trained hard together for 4 years and now it has paid off. Rhee Tae Kwondo taught me many things such as: self discipline, self respect and respect for others, self defence and the biggest being belief in myself that if I set my mind on something and try hard, I can achieve it. I would like to say a special thanks to Master Rhee and all my Instructors for their guidance and dedication. I would also like to thank all my family and friends for believing in me, no matter what.

Many thanks to Master Rhee, Regional Master John O'Brien, John & Bruce Lawton and all the other instructors for helping me achieve my dream of becoming a blackbelt. The skills I have attained and friends I have made along the way will be with me my whole life. Being a Rhee Taekwondo blackbelt is the best feeling.

Significant time, effort, perseverance and self discipline were required to reach the black belt standard. Having reached this level I am aware that while this is a significant achievement, it is not, of itself, an end-goal but rather a milestone on a journey and a journey that I would recommend to all. Achievement of a black belt is not easy, but it is definitely worth striving for. I am grateful to Master Rhee and the instructors within Rhee Taekwondo for their help, guidance a nd advice along this path; a path that will continue as I strive to improve my aptitude in the art of Rhee Taekwondo.

Dennis McLean Ingle Farm Gym 1st Dan Black Belt

I am honoured to be a Rhee Taekwondo black belt. It has been a culmination of three years of hard training and dedication. After starting Rhee Taekwondo at the age of 6 and having a long break before taking up the art again, achieving my black belt has reaffirmed my passion and enjoyment for the Rhee Taekwondo martial art discipline.

Erwin Gamboa Adelaide University Gym 1st Dan Black Belt

Achieving black belt means the end of a long hard road; a road that has required a long time of effort, determination, self control and much sweat. It is a great achievement, but it also means that a new road has opened up; at black belt one has finally mastered the basics of an art, and now true learning can begin. Unlike the black belt, this road has no clear end, as one will travel it for the rest of one's life learning and improving the art. I would like to thank my instructors and Master Rhee for their patience, advice and wisdom on the journey so far, and I look forward to continue learning from them on the road ahead
